Brief Update: Preparations for Birka
Jan. 15th, 2007 10:18 pmAt the end of the evening tonight, I have 11 text blocks folded and slit, and in the press in preparation for making limp bindings with reinforced spines to sell at Birka (the same style as the vigil book for Gavin MacBain).
I thought I had another ream of the laid-look paper paper from Crane that I'm using for the limp bindings. Instead, in the box I had 4 text blocks for girdle books folded and slit, with companion boards, and two other text blocks that I have to identify (they're either for limp bindings or girdle books, but they're not the laid-look paper and there are no boards with them). There are also leather pieces for several limp bindings in the box. I was industrious at some point, but I don't recall doing them. Must have been some months ago. They'll go in the press when the 11 text blocks mentioned above come out. That means that I have at most 3 more text blocks to make for our girdle book inventory for Birka.
I have additional covers to make, of course, plus the spines themselves, plus the sewing, plus tying knots in the girdle book covers (they're mostly already made -- they just don't have the fillers yet).
Progress, even if I wasn't aware of some of it...
